If you are a fish lover and want to watch fishes fresh from the sea, then head to the General Santos City Fish Port Complex.

General Santos is accessible via plane so you don’t have to worry on how to get there. The fish port is located at Barangay Tambler, and is managed by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA). Did you know that it is the cleanest fish port here in the whole Philippines?

Get ready to buy fish since it is very cheap here too. The famous fish here is the tuna (General Santos is the Tuna capital of the Philippines), and for sure, you will be able to see gigantic ones in the port. Take this: the port is unloading more or less 300 metric tons of fish per day.

Every month of September, the city holds one of the biggest and most awaited festivals—the Gensan Tuna Festival, and is celebrated throughout the city. It is the charter hood anniversary, and homage to the fishing industry that supports the local economy. The highlights of the festival are the culinary activities that showcase the city’s dishes made from freshly caught, sashimi grade tuna. There are also street dancing contests, beauty pageants, and a float competition where participants make giant replicas of other sea creatures.
