This year, Baguio experienced the coldest temperature in 46 years.

The City of Baguio is located high up in the mountains in the province of Benguet, Luzon. Air at higher elevations is cooler because the pressure is low. That's why Baguio is really cold.

On February 15, 2017, the temperature in Baguio dropped to 7.3 degrees Celsius, from 8 degrees a day earlier.

However, 7.3 degrees isn't the lowest temperature Bagiuo experienced. This year's 7.3 just nearly matched the 7.1 degrees celcius recorded on Jan. 9, 1971. The temperature from 46 years ago qualifies as the lowest temperature the city ever recorded so far.
