This 51 year old man is responsible for those festive songs like ‘Cebu (I’m Longing to See...)’ and the popular ‘Sinulog, Ishagit og Kusog’

In Cebu, where the Sinulog festival is held, there is a somewhat of a holiday music that’s only played during the Sinulog season in January. These songs have now become a tradition in the province of Cebu, playing such songs signify that the Sinulog season has arrived.
You will hear these Sinulog songs in the streets, inside the malls, everywhere you go, really, and sometimes you’ll hear remixes of them in some parts of the city.
These songs were composed by one man. Dandin Ranillo. He is now about 50 years old and is the son of famous Cebuano power couple actors Gloria Sevilla and Matt Ranillo Jr. If the internet is to be believed, he is apparently also an actor and director.
In 2010, Ranillo was awarded the Sinulog Personalities Award during the 30th Sinulog celebration for his involvement and cultural influence in the Sinulog festival’s then 30 year-history.
Dandin Ranillo also composed the beloved love-letter song to Cebu called Cebu (I’m Longing to See...)
