David Bowie saw son Duncan Jones

Duncan Jones, the director of the Warcraft movie, said that his dad David Bowie loved the film. “He was all excited for me!

Film director Duncan Jonas says his father David Bowie was able to watch an early version of the Warcraft movie before he passed away in January. Warcraft is an epic fantasy film based on the Warcraft video game series and novels. The movie is out now on theaters in the Philippines.

Jones, who also directed critically acclaimed films like Moon (2009) and Source Code (2011), told The Daily Beast about his legendary father, “For everyone else, he was one person. For me, he was my dad. He was always interested in things I was working on. So I showed him what I was working on, and he was all excited for me. He was happy that I was doing the thing that I enjoy doing in my life.”

Jones also mentioned that with Warcraft he wanted to “broaden the spectrum” away from fantasy films that copy Lord of the Rings. “We tried to tell a story that was different from a Tolkien fantasy, where the creatures and the humans are the good guy and the monsters are the bad guys. Fantasy films all kind of want to be Lord Of The Rings.”, Jones said.

Catch the movie out in theaters now.
