Brie Larson in Early Talks

The Academy Award winning actress is in talks to play Carol Danvers/a.k.a. Captain Marvel, one of the most powerful characters in all of the comic book superhero universes.

After winning an Oscar for her dramatic role in Room, 26-year old Brie Larson is now Marvel’s first choice to play the comic book character Carol Danvers a.k.a. Ms Marvel/Captain Marvel. Larson is reportedly doing the job.

Brie Larson in Early Talks

Carol Danvers is the closest thing Marvel has to Superman. Her character is a former U.S. Air Force fighter who received superhuman powers after she was hit with in an explosion of an alien device. She will be a major presence once she finally hits theaters with a standalone in 2019, or more likely before, when Infinity War Part 1 comes out May 4, 2018.

Larson, who had also played a comic book character in 2007 as Envy Adams in the film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs The World, will probably receive her biggest paycheck to date if the “talks” will push through. “Early talks” do fall apart sometimes but reports say that the deal will certainly get made.

Comic book fans speculate that Larson’s character would replace Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and will take over as leader of the Avengers.
